A Bit More about Shannon's work in the Eating Disorder Community

Shannon has been working full time in eating disorders treatment since early 2008 and is a Certified Eating Disorders Specialist & Certified Eating Disorders Specialist Supervisor. Passionate about working with those who struggle with eating disorders & those who are supporting individuals with eating disorders, Shannon was a primary therapist for approximately 9 years on an eating disorder specific inpatient hospitalization unit. She treated clients on both the inpatient and outpatient (partial hospitalization & intensive outpatient) sides of the program- providing individual, family and group therapy. She joined a team of a multi disciplinary professionals consisting of nutritionists, clinicians, nurses and physicians. During her time at the hospital, Shannon began her outpatient practice to support individuals who were seeking specialized support at a lower level of care that she has continued to manage through present day.

Following the work at the hospital, Shannon was approached and offered the privilege of opening two new eating disorder day treatment center programs in New Jersey. Shannon managed multidisciplinary teams at both facilities and ran them simultaneously before prioritizing focus to one program to ensure quality was maintained with the growth of the programs. During her time as a Program Director, Shannon presented at countless schools, physician offices, and conferences as an Eating Disorders expert, providing education and increasing awareness throughout the community. She has also been featured as an expert on Magic 98.3 FM and 550 AM. 

Shannon has treated individuals across the spectrum of eating disorders, including but not limited to: Anorexia Nervosa, Binge Eating Disorder, Bulimia Nervosa, ARFID, and EDNOS. She is a licensed Be Body Positive Facilitator. Shannon's true passion is providing solution focused, client centered therapy. She believes that all foods fit in moderation and the HAES movement. She believes in the importance & value of a multi-disciplinary team and support for all involved in the care plan of someone struggling with an eating disorder.
